2014 – Auchentoshan Queen Elizabeth 2

This 1 Litre Auchentoshan was originally bottled for sale on the cruise liner QE2 but rumor has it that they never actually made it on-board the iconic ship, I bought this as a gift for Mats Johansson when visiting the distillery, a few years later he brought it on a trip we made with families to Skarvsjöby up north in Sweden.

Im glad i got to taste it this was a very good whisky, mild with a strong taste of “PimPim” which is a raspberry candy.

More info on Auchentoshan visit either the Official page or the Wiki-Page

2014 – Longmorn 1997 / 14 years old cask strenght edition

A favorite brought home from the trip to Speyside 2012, bought it after warm recommendations from the staff in Strathislas shop.
It’s a cask strength release of 1997 bottled at 59.6%, Longmorn is a destillery owned by Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard) and its one of a handful in the group used for producing single malts and not only producing for the blended market.

For more information visit the wiki page, I was not able to find any official webpage whilst researching this.

2014 – Benriach Madeira wood finish 15 years old

Bought during a trip to Speyside after a visit to the distillery that was not open to the public at the time.

Text souce from Benriach homepage
Matured in the traditional style in American bourbon barrels, this whisky is then ‘finished’ in Madeira barrels, sourced from the semi-tropical Portuguese island of Madeira, hundreds of miles off the coast of north-west Africa, in the Atlantic Ocean. During this second period of maturation the whisky derives many interesting characteristics specific to the Madeira barrel.

Just 400 six-packs will be made available world-wide, and the Madeira Finish is part of the first BenRiach ‘Wood Finish Series’, released November 2006. The other ‘finishes’ included in the series are Pedro Ximenez Sherry, Dark Rum and Aged Tawny Port.
