2016 – Bowmore Enigma 12 YO

Another Bowmore this one produced for the travel retail market. It’s got a higher amount if cherry matured whisky than the standard 12 year release from Bowmore. It’s a little bit darker and sweater.

2016 – Locke’s 8 YO

Destiller in Cooley destillery in Louth county. Who also produce kilbeggan,Connemara,Tyrconnell and Greenore

This whisky is double destilled not triple as most Irish and its blend use  10 % whisky that is smokey. All whisky is 8-10 years old and It’s got 40 % alcohol. Very smooth with a fruity tone.

2015 – Bowmore Black Rock

A 40% abv whisky inspired by the black rocks of Islay released for the travel retail market.

This has no age statement and was aged mainly in Spanish ex sherry casks.

Visit the destillery if ever there they have a great tour where it makes sense to add and take the vip one.

Who knows you might end up as lucky as me. My guide called in sick so Eddie the master destiller came in and guided me through. The long chat in and tasting in vault nr 1 was simply brilliant !

2015 – The Glenrothes Select reserve

A 43 % abv speyside single malt. Again for me this is a whisky that didn’t say a lot. It’s ok and I would buy it again if it’s on sale.

More interestingly tif you head to the whisky destillery it’s location is next to a cemetery. It makes for a great visit since the “non proven” relation with the Baudoinia compniacens fungus that grows on the headstones.

Unfortunately it seems there is no visitor center so arrangements must be made upfront if a tour at the destillery is desired.

More about the destillery on the official page or the wiki.

2015 – Highland Park Einar

Yes, this is a really nice whisky or should I say was. Now it has been immortalized by having the last drops of its 40 % abv content added to the king of blends …. The sofiero blend !

The destillery is on the the Orkney islands which is the most northern whiskey region in Scotland.

2015 – Ardmore traditional cask

Grew to a favorite, I have already bought a replacement bottle.

At 46 % and under 40 pounds this one was a great help renovating the garage.

This is a younger peated whisky finished in quartercask to speed the maturation up, read more about the distillery on the wiki or the official home page.
