2012-03-19 Whisky Tasting

This tasting contained 4 brands

  • Johnie Walker – Golden Label 18 YO 40%                            (Blended)
  • Ilse of Jura – Superstition (no year) 45%                                (50% 21 YO jura, 37% 13 YO jura and 13 % 5 YO Jura)
  • The Glenlivet Nadurra (Non-chill filtered) 16 YO 57,2%
  • Bowmore – Islay 17 YO 43 %

The clear winner was The Glenlivet Nadurra which is still to this day my favorite whisky, make note that the Nadurra tested here is a version available only during limited period as its sold  at cask strength.

So with this there are a lot of Nadurra available on the market amongst them the Nadurra Triumph  and the 48% 1 liter duty free bottle available in airports across the world. The Thriump and the 48% 1 liter bottle is in my view the 2 best so far released and the lower % in these really allow the taste to come through.

The Ilse of Jura was the clear looser, we even thought during the tasting that we got hold of a “Bad” bottle but after testing again from a different bottle realized this is how it taste !
